What We Do

Mi Gente navigates existing en la lucha y en la movida. For some of us we long for a homeland we've never known. For others, we crave spaces of belonging in a country that promises new beginnings. For many of us, we find ourselves floating between concepts of home.

For the Latine community to truly be visible, connected, and thriving - we believe the Latino experience across the Latinx Diaspora must be shared, celebrated, and tended to with commuity care.

We offer programming that invites everyone in and outside of the Latinx Diaspora to address the stories that are told about us and for us. We aim to amplify our stories, our needs, and our love. Our work centers storytelling mediums as a way to connect, heal, and channel our power to tell our own stories.

Mi Gente Movida

An electrifying annual celebration for Hispanic Heritage Month! An immersive event including a community panel, film festival, and Latinx creators (Artists, poets/writers, filmmakers, performers, dancers, healers, and entrepreneurs). The focus is on connection, education, and activation. This program is centered on creating healing spaces through the arts and celebration of nuestras historias.

Bookclub

Dive into stories that center the Latinx experience, our connections to our ancestors, and celebrating all that we are. This opportunity is virtual and takes place twice a year.

Chercha

“Chercha” is a word used in some Latin American countries (Dominican Republic, Venezuela) to express a good time or conversation. Chercha is Mi Gente’s virtual open community meeting, held on the third Friday of each month.
