Even as we come together to share the powerful act of reclaiming, our comunidad is being censored.

Words censored in this art show:
Border Patrol, Concrete Cages, Colonial Lies, Colonizer,
White Supremacy, Independent Activist, Surveillance, Colonial Structures, Resistance

By reclaiming our untold stories, we honor those who have been harmed by silence. We know what it means to carry the weight of others’ discomfort with our truth—our bodies carry that memory for generations. We extend an invitation to love without fear and rise.

In a world of erasure, we choose to connect, build, and create. Mi Gente Mi Pueblo will be hosting two virtual community conversations to unpack censorship and harness our power to stand firmly in our culture and our stories. Join us to continue the conversation on September 16 (6:30pm) and October 9th (Noon).

Below you can view artist quotes and artwork that were censored in the Reclamando Our Untold Stories artist exhibition.

(Un)Censored Artist Quote

"I reclaim the story of Las Carpetas. They exposed decades of surveillance targeting Puerto Rican independence activists, yet this history remains absent from formal educational narratives. As someone who would likely be surveilled today for challenging colonial structures, I shine light on the Puerto Rican resistance."

-Sketzii
